Color Shoes
Suits are available in a variety of styles, fabrics and colors. Each style is suitable to wear at some events but not others. Each fabric has its advantages and disadvantages. Some may be acceptable for business use and others may prove quite the opposite. However, when it comes to which color suit you should wear, things tend to be a little less flexible. Etiquette guidelines are almost black and white so to speak. Here are a few pointers to help you choose.
Black suits are utilized overwhelmingly for formal occasions. This color is traditional in its look, and can even be considered sober. Wear to both business and social gatherings, but never casual. Wear a plain shirt for business, and patterned can (if desired) be matched up for formal social events.
White suits are sometimes worn to the office, but they would seem more appropriate attire to be worn socially. Always wear a darker shirt with a light patterned tie. White can also be a fantastic choice of wedding suit, especially if the entire wedding party are co-coordinated.
Brown suits are reserved for business purposes, as it creates a serious calm effect. Light brown however, can be treated as white providing thought is given to the shirt and tie colors. Socks should always be as near a match as possible to the suit. This is especially true for brown men's suits.
Charcoal gray can be treated as if black in the office. However, certain social functions would require black in preference. Check ahead of time with the organizers.
Navy blue also can be treated in this way. It's use to social events may be further restricted, as navy blue is borderline business / social. The addition of a pastel shirt is favored for business wear. However, the addition of a brighter patterned shirt transforms the navy blue suit into something ideal for informal social occasions.
Whichever color suit you decide upon, remember the reasons for your decision. Apply the same reasoning when matching up a shirt and tie to the suit in order to complete the look
